Alberto Fernandez comes with an interesting past and an exciting future. At 4 years of age he and his parents attempted to flee by boat from Sagua La Grande, Cuba, to the United States and got caught at sea. The family had to spend 7 months on Guantanamo Bay and wait for the processing into the US, which happened and in 1995 they landed in Miami, Florida. At age 13 he discovered the sport of tennis and loved it right away. Played in High School and juniors and spent 5 hours on the court every day.

At age 16 Alberto began his career as tennis pro with the Greater Miami Tennis and Education Foundation, exposing tennis to underprivileged children. Soon after he accepted a pro position with the City of Miami, where he also took on the challenge of wheelchair tennis. He also began teaching high performance juniors and a vast majority of his students received tennis scholarships to play in division 1 or division 2 Universities. Following that Albert directed his own city junior program and kick started the first adult clinic in the greater Miami area.

In 2008 Alberto joined the Miami Dade Fire Dept. at the age of 18 as an EMT. Upon finishing his paramedics degree, Alberto was promoted to Officer in Charge.
In 2011 Alberto joined the Cliff Drysdale Tennis team at the famed Ritz Carlton, Key Biscayne, FL, where he worked directly with CDT junior camps. After building this program, Alberto accepted a new position with CDT as Camp Director and Operations Manager. Recently Alberto accepted the Director of Tennis position with Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa in Rancho Mirage, California.

Alberto Fernandez (PTR) works at Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa with Head Pro Elliot Pegg (from Great Britain) and Pro Rodrigo Almeida (from Brazil). He says, "It's wonderful here.
